LFW #2 - The Shows

I attended a variety of shows at LFW, including: Louise Gray, Basso & Brooke, Charlie Le Mindu and Louise Amstrup. Next season I hope to be able to attend a lot more shows.

Louise Gray:

Louise Gray's collection was playful and colourful.  Details included embroidery, mirrors, plastic, ribbons, streamers and bottle tops.  It reminded me of after a childrens party if you combined all the left over elements and gave it a fairground/circus edge it would create this collection.

Basso & Brooke:

This has to be my favourite collection that I saw at LFW.  The collection had a feel of 'Olde England' mixing prints of old script/font, maps and roses.  The prints were lovely as were the colours.  The key pieces for SS 11 seem to be skater skirts and shirts and 60's shift dresses. The collection very much echoed all designers that this season 70's is the era of choice!

Charlie Le Mindu:

This collection was certainly risque! But amazing non the less, so glad I got to watch it! Nude models, hairy catsuits, Fluro wigs and the Blow up Doll and Amber Rose (who was everywhere) front row!

Louise Amstrup:

I really loved this collection.  The colours, designs and materials all worked so well together to make a beautiful collection.

My review for this show was actually published on Planetnotion.com!

LFW #1

London Fashion Week September 2010 was my first ever involvement in Fashion Week.  It has me hooked, although it was extremely exhausting, I LOVED it!

For 2 days of LFW (Saturday and Sunday) I worked for Notion Magazine.  This involved promoting the magazines supplement Hipsters Handbook and attending and reviewing some shows.

Fashion Night Out...

Wednesday night was Vogue's Fashion night out.  I had an absolutely amazing time, New Bond Street had the most Amazing atmosphere.  I went with two girls that I have interned with this summer and we visited Max Mara who have the most amazing collection of Camel Coats.  Prada where we got Pimms and fish and chips in Prada Newspaper.  Jimmy Choo where they had a "say fromage" photo booth which was lots of fun. Mulberry where we got our make up done amongst loads of other stores. Free drinks, amazing atmosphere and all while taking in all the lovely clothes, bags and accessories.  I saw the most gorgeous electric blue dress in Mulberry!

Here are a few photo's from the night....

As amazing as London FNO was judging by Twitter, New York FNO sounds unreal!  I'm finding it hard to decide whether I would have wanted to go to Barneys to see Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen or visit where the Gossip Girl cast were (including Ed Westwick!)

Fashion week soon.  I'm hoping to work or hopefully may get to be involved through where I'm interning at the moment!

Where did you visit at Fashion Night Out?

Maison Martin Margiela S/S 09

Maison Martin Margiela

Exhibition Guide - Maison Martin Margiela - Somerset House

On Friday Amy (my lovely fellow intern/friend) and I went to the Maison Martin Margiela exhibition at Somerset House.  It was such a beautiful day and Somerset House looked amazing, I wanted to sit in the courtyard all day and play with the children carelessly in the fountains!

The exhibition was amazing and a great insight into the fashion house.  Unfortunately I couldn't take pictures.  I loved the 'white-ness' of the whole thing and his work is truly amazing. I was like a little child I wanted to touch everything but had to restrain myself.

I have to admit I wasn't completely clued up on who Martin Margiela was but now I'm really intrigued by his work and concepts. I really love his take on fashion, silhouette and minimalism.  I loved how he recreated clothing out of old pieces, like a pair of trousers made from old belts.  Some of his pieces were truly extraordinary.

Not only was I fascinated by his work but who he was as a person, his dislike of celebrity and his anonymity of himself and in his work.  It really makes you focus on his clothes and some of them are exceptional pieces.

I loved the grungey, minimalistic, deconstructive-ness of it all!

Here are a few images of his work that I could find on google.

Lust...

So a rumour was basically confirmed today that H&M ( a favourite store of mine) will be launching a new collaboration with Lanvin.  I am a massive fan of this! Judging by Twitter, everyone else is very excited about this collaboration. I must admit I have never actually purchased any of the previous H&M collaboration pieces, mainly because I was pretty clueless.

I was looking at Lanvin's F/W 2010 collection on www.style.com and was having a look at pieces I would love to see variations/taken inspiration from.

Here are a few of my faves:

All images - www.style.com

Lots of tribal influences, feathers, fur, metallics and studs its an amazing collection.

I'm tres excited!!!

We were discussing at work today who we would like to see H&M collaborate with, to be honest, I would love any collaboration I'm sure. But I would love to see H&M collaborate with perhaps; Celine, Chloe, Erdem, Alexander Wang, Burberry, Marc Jacobs or Miu Miu.

Who would you like to see H&M collaborate with?

What do you think to the thought of a Lanvin/H&M collaboration?
