Style Steal: Blanket Cardigan

Style Steal: Blanket Cardigan

I don't think you can get through the winter months in the UK without some significant knitwear to layer up and keep you warm. I love the idea of wearing a big slouchy blanket cardigan to keep you snug.

This monochrome blanket cardigan from ASOS is divine, layered over anything to keep you warm and stylish. Here I have paired it with simple basics and a high ankle boot, inspired by MK O.  How amazing are these gold bangles? Perfect to add a little 'je ne sais quoi' to an otherwise simple outfit.

LFW SS13: Mulberry

I don't think you can review London Fashion Week without mentioning Mulberry.

As a loyal Mulberry fan and owner, I get very excited to see the collection each season. The clothes are going from strength to strength and the bags, I really love the bags!

Mulberry SS13
I love the colour palette; crisp white, mint green, navy and nude. Classic colours, that you can invest in and I'm a big fan of minty green/turquoise.

The slouchy, oversized bike jackets are divine, as are the buttery leather ones. I love the 60's influences and ditzy florals.

However, there was one thing that stole the show...

Let me introduce you to the new Mulberry 'IT' bag... the Willow tote.

Isn't she just beautiful and the pocket on the front zips of into a clutch bag!!!

I'd love one in every colour please...

Style Steal: Wide leg jeans

Style Steal: Flared Jeans

T By Alexander Wang v neck pocket tee / Mango studded jacket / Mango chino jeans / Zara stone necklace / Yves Saint Laurent oval ring

Rachel Zoe, has been an icon of mine for a while; I adore her style, respect her career and think her show is 'bananas'.

I've been toying with the idea of high-waisted flared jeans for a while now and after seeing this image of RZ, I was convinced. I like the idea of keeping the look simple, pairing with a plain jersey tee, stand-out jewellery and a wardrobe essential - Boucle Jacket.

The look is very in-keeping with the 70's boho glam vibe that I love so much and will hopefully make my little legs look longer!

Check out my pinterest for more flared jeans inspiration...

LFW SS13: Burberry Prorsum

Burberry is probably my favourite of all London designers and we do have some amazing ones!

It may be a little predictable, but I truly feel that Christopher Bailey is a genius...

I watched the SS13 catwalk online, it is beautiful!

The colours are just so rich/intense and the tailoring so exquisite... I wish I could own it all.

I'm absolutely loving the peacock colours, my ultimate piece is the metallic peacock trench (see heart symbol) - it is a personal goal of mine to own a Burberry Trench, an ultimate classic piece.

Bailey said he wanted to demonstrate "British Glamour" and he really did.

I love the 1940's references; corsets, slouchy jackets, metallics and peacock feathers (I die!).

It's obvious from the collection that peplums and sporty bomber jackets are here to stay... so invest!!!

O Burberry, I love you so!

Daisy Jewellery

I'm always on the hunt for jewellery, I'm a magpie... I just cannot resist!

Recently I was introduced to a brand called Daisy, who makes the most gorgeous hand made jewellery; including Chakra Bracelets, Friendship Bracelets and adorable stack rings.

"Daisy was born out of a love for the beautiful and the exotic, out of a passion for travel and far-flung shores and out of a taste for adventure."

This certainly is reflected in the beautiful designs, I'm desperate to get my hands on some good karma chakra bracelets.

I've chosen to start my collection with some of the cute stack rings...

*Please excuse my swollen little finger, I got bitten in spain!*

As you can see, it comes in really lovely packaging! I got the 'B' Alpha ring (24ct Gold Vermeil on 925 Sterling Silver) and the Iota stack ring (18ct Gold Vermeil with 925 Sterling Silver) and I love love love! They are just SO pretty, I want to stack my fingers with lots more!

I got the L size as I have chubby fingers, but they fit on my middle, index and thumb, so I can change to suit what I want to wear that day.

Now to save up for a Chakra bracelet!!!

How to wear: Peplum

How to wear: Peplum

T By Alexander Wang short sleeve shirt / Peplum skirt / High heel, Whistles / Zara clutch handbag / Michael Kors Jet Set,

I love the peplum trend and for AW12 and SS13 (so far) it looks like it is here to stay, however, I have to admit I've been struggling with it, finding a piece that flatters my shape rather than making me look so much larger than I am!!!

I love this neon lace peplum skirt from Topshop, nailing a few trends in one item (how's that for frugal!).  I would team it with a simple jersey top and accessories, playing with different textures, whilst letting the skirt be the stand out piece.

Now I just need to try it on and see if it will actually suit me...

Beauty Buys...

I recently mentioned (here) that I was building up my make-up bag and started with my foundation. Now, I thought that I should reap the benefits of being in Duty-Free before my holiday and treated myself to a new mascara.

I've had my eyes on a few recently, YSL Shocking Mascara and Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara, however, I didn't end up purchasing either.  I do still want to try the YSL one but I was on the hunt for a waterproof one (for holiday) and sadly they didn't have this option.

I ended up purchasing Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes (Waterproof)...

Dreaming of a Doll Lash effect?
Hypnôse Doll Eyes Waterproof coats every single lash without weighing them down, for a wide-eye look. Results: A volumised, extended, lifted lash look.

I have to say I really like this mascara, it's my favourite that I have used in a long time! I like the brush/wand, which was what put me off the Hypnose Star mascara - I prefer a fuller thicker brush/wand to really coat my lashes. Which is why the Hypnose Drama may be on my list next...

I usually wear quite heavy eyeliner, but with just a few coats and curled lashes, this mascara really does open your eyes and has a great look, both volumised and extended.

As for waterproof, it is the best waterproof mascara I have used, the majority stays put but after a long day in the sun/in the pool it did eventually come off and there were slight grey smudges under my eyes... but nothing like panda eyes at all!

My other recent buy, which is actually a gift is the Chanel Coco Noir perfume, from my very lovely boyfriend!

So now I smell lovely!

Next on my list is concealer... does anyone have an recommendations or links to their reviews please?

September Style 3

Acne loose shirt / MaxMara long coat / Topshop Leather legging / Givenchy suede wedge / Zara diamante jewelry / Zara crystal necklace / ASOS slouch beanie

This September Style mood board features more expensive items (Givenchy/Acne/MaxMara) and they really aren't realistically within my budget! This is more to demonstrate how I would like to look and the pieces I would like to have in my wardrobe....

Camel Wool Coat, Leather Leggings, Knee-High heeled boots, White Tee, Costume Jewellery and a beanie hat.

This outfit would take me into the cold winter months and are all investment essentials.

NYFW SS13 - Marc Jacobs

Bringing back the swinging sixties...

I adore the sixties, so there was no doubt that I would fall in love with this collection...

Monochrome, Geometric patterns, Breton Stripes, Sequins, Fluted Hems, dropped waists - I love it all!

I adore the sequinned dresses that closed the show, and how amazing does Cara Delevigne look?

Not only did I fall in love with the clothes but the hair and make up too!

Bold brows, charcoal eyes and nude lips & a messy beehive - my favourite!

NYFW SS13 - Alexander Wang

I have just arrived back in the UK from sunny Spain, and o my! isn't it cold here?! My little tan is fading by the minute...

You can see all my holiday pics on instagram (bea_circus), I was a bit camera shy this year and remained firmly behind the lens rather than in-front of it, this holiday was all about relaxation after my manic year!

So, as I'm looking forwards to jumpers, coats and beanie hats, it only seems right to look at Spring Summer 2013!!!

Starting with my favourite NYFW designer - Alexander Wang...

This man is a genius...

He nailed the colour palette of crisp whites, glossy blacks, nudes and iridescent silver. I love the intricate lazer cut outs and the layered, deconstructed theme, the whole collection carries on the sportswear/90's grunge vibe (I'm a fan!).

Did I also mention the collection GLOWS IN THE DARK... how very 90's indeed!

September Style - Outfit 2

September Style 2

T By Alexander Wang pocket tee / Topshop Biker jacket / Current/Elliott skinny fit jeans / Mango sequin mini skirt / Topshop Mid heel boots / Zara shoes

I desperately need to replace my leather jacket and I'm after a quilted one, Zara also have a lush one that I'm hoping to get ASAP!

I already have plenty of jersey in by wardrobe, but I really want to add some T by Alexander Wang into my closet, I'll be keeping a beady eye on The Outnet for some.

I really love the military trend, I think it always gets reworked for AW, so it's quite a 'safe' trend to follow, I have a khaki parka and a pair of khaki utility trousers, but I'm hoping to add some camo in there too!

A sequin skirt is a great way of dressing up basics for a night out and looking effortless.

I'm also on the hunt for the perfect black ankle boots and I really like the double zip effect on these ones from Topshop.  The heels from Zara are a great way of making the classic black heel more interesting!

September Style - Outfit 1

As part of building my Essentials Wardrobe, I am going to feature what I would love to be wearing and how I plan to style the essentials once they are in my closet.

To head things up we have my first 'September Style' moodboard....
September Style

Uniqlo long sleeve shirt / Mango blazer / ASOS high waisted jeans / H&M high heels / Monica Vinader moonstone jewelry / Miss Selfridge fedora hat

If you follow me on Pinterest, you will have seen I have a growing love for boyfriend jeans.  Worn with simple jersey pieces, a structured blazer/jacket, minimal heels and accessories.

I love the idea of mixing in the trends through accessories and this Miss Selfridge fedora ticks all the boxes, I adore the berry shade!

This is a look I am going to try and achieve this September.

Bassike

I stumbled across Bassike the other day and I wish this brand was in the UK...

I have a fondness of jersey basics and Australian brand Bassike has jersey in every colour and style imaginable!

The brands creators had a vision to create adaptable and covetable everyday pieces with a design pedigree, the Bassike philosophy is about creating wardrobe staples with longevity; combining timeless style with premium quality and sustainable fabrics.

I love, love, love!

Perfect wardrobe staples...

Please come to the UK!

p.s. when I googled Bassike earlier, there was a link to Net-a-Porter who say the collection is 'coming soon'.... fingers crossed!

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H

Now building my essentials wardrobe is not just restricted to my clothing, but includes my make up also!

I used to always buy expensive/luxe make-up whilst living at home and working but during university it was a very expensive habit to upkeep.  However, now I have re-joined the working world, I felt it was important to start building my make-up collection once more.

I really notice the difference between luxe make up and 'cheapy' make-up, don't get me wrong there are some great high-street beauty products, but sometimes you do need to spend a tiny bit extra for quality. I'm building my collection gradually as there is no way I could do it all at once!

I've started with my foundation...

I've gone with Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24.

I did a lot of research and looked in to Mac, Estee Lauder, Nars and YSL, however, after reading lots of reviews, asking friends and trying swatches on my hand I felt that Lancome was the best for me.

It has a lovely velvety matte finish and you don't feel like you are caked in make up, it gives great coverage and is buildable so you can make it suit you. The girl at the counter was SO lovely and that really helps when you are unsure and trying something new.  It really does last all day and I leave work, travel on the muggy central line and it's still doing a good job.

I have it in 03 Beige Diaphane, which is slightly darker than my natural complexion but as I'm off on holiday and usually wear fake tan it is perfect. 01 Beige Albatre was a perfect match to my skin so I may swap to this in winter once my tan has faded.

I highly recommend it!
